High quality craftsmanship & small batch production

We say no to the trend of fast-fashion and create products that are made to last. We want our products to serve you and your family for generations to come. This is precisely why we focus on quality.

From our raw materials to selection of artisans we strive to create timeless, quality products so you can buy less and better. This means you won’t have to replace your tools every few months or years, which leads to less waste overall.

In order to keep on top of the quality and longevity of our products we work on small batches. It allows the craftsmen we work with to give each product the adequate amount of time and attention it needs. It also allows us to consistently fine tune and adjust products to make each batch better for you. Small batches also means less waste, in terms of both material scraps and unsold products.

We also work with local craftsmen where possible to reduce CO2. For example our knife boxes and wooden products are created locally in Europe instead of Asia to reduce our carbon footprint. Similarly, our craftsmen use locally sourced materials, to reduce our CO2 emissions.

Three
sustainable
materials

We focus on three sustainable materials: Metal, Stone and Wood. These three materials are extremely durable and it is this inherited durability and longevity that makes them sustainable. By selecting these quality and durable natural materials we prevent thousands of more disposable, low-quality ones from entering the environment.

Recycled polyester bags

We removed paper and plastic covers from all our linen products and switched to making RPET bags instead.

RPET, also known as PET or PETE bottle fabric, is an eco-friendly fabric made by using the yarn of recycled plastic bottles. This eco-friendly 100% recycled yarn is what we use to make the bags of our linen products.

To give you an idea, when compared to the production of virgin Polyester, this:

- Reduces CO2 levels by over 4 tonnes

- Saves 14 gallons of petroleum

- Saves over 14,000 gallons of water

These bags were created with the intention of being reused by you for different purposes. That is why we decided to use a recyclable and durable material that you can keep and use as you please.

Shipment & packaging

We are trying to be more responsible for the lifecycle of things we bring to the world. This is why we use uncoated paper and cardboard in our packaging to make it easier for recycling services to deal with it properly.

We also completely redesigned our Sakai Kyuba and Sakai Kyuba Classic knife boxes to make them even more sustainable. Now, we no longer use plastic foam for the inside of the box. Like our RPET bags, these boxes are created with the intention of being used for different purposes once the knives are placed in your designated kitchen storage. You can reuse these boxes to store jewelry, tea bags, postcards, etc.

Moreover, we are reusing cardboard boxes for our orders as much as possible. As well as opting for sea shipping instead of air shipping where feasible to produce less CO2.
