We build knives to last for generations, and we try to run the rest of the business the same way. Fewer things, made better, from materials that don’t end up in landfill.
We work with small, family-run workshops in Sakai and Seki in Japan, and in villages across Europe, mainly Poland and Italy. Partnering with them keeps old skills alive and lets us produce in small batches, where every knife gets real attention instead of being rushed down a line.
These family businesses embody our belief in quality over quantity. They don’t chase trends or flood the market with unnecessary variations. Instead, they focus on perfecting essential tools that have served kitchens for centuries. Working with them lets us keep to small-batch production, where each knife receives the individual attention it deserves rather than being rushed through mass production lines.

Creating only what the world needs
We only make things that earn a permanent place in the kitchen. No disposable gadgets, no seasonal collections, nothing built to break so you buy it again. Our knives are timeless essentials, as useful to your grandchildren as they are to you.
Small batches aren’t only about quality. They let family artisans give each piece the time it needs, and they mean we never overproduce, so there’s no warehouse of excess inventory and no waste from making more than the world needs.
Working with local craftsmen wherever possible reduces our impact further. Our knife boxes and wooden products are made in Europe rather than Asia, supporting regional family businesses while lowering our carbon footprint.
Small batches, big impact
The wisdom of three: metal, stone, and wood
We build around three materials: metal, stone and wood. Each is durable, and each ages well. Steel takes a patina; wood and stone earn character with use. Choosing materials that last keeps thousands of cheap, disposable alternatives out of the bin.
Our storage bags are made from RPET, recycled plastic bottles. Compared with virgin polyester, each bag:
Reduces CO₂ emissions by over 4 tonnes
Saves 14 gallons of petroleum
Conserves over 14,000 gallons of water
Reusable for travel, storage or gifting, long after the linen inside has found its place in your kitchen.
Innovation rooted in responsibility
Packaging that reflects our values
We use uncoated paper and cardboard so it recycles easily, and we’ve reworked our knife boxes to remove plastic foam. Like our RPET bags, the boxes are made for a second life, good for storing jewellery, tea, postcards or anything else worth keeping.
We reuse cardboard boxes whenever we can and choose sea freight over air when it’s feasible. It’s a slower journey, but it lowers our CO₂ emissions while getting your knives to you safely.
We don’t chase trends or build in obsolescence. We make pieces meant to be handed down, and we’d like the world we hand down to be in decent shape too. That’s what “everlasting joy” means to us.
