What is stonewashed linen?
Stonewashed linen is a quality linen that has been pre-washed prior to use. To accelerate the garment wash effect and to give textile items an even more unique appearance actual stones are used in the manufacturing process. Hence–stone washing. This fabric is much softer than a raw linen and becomes softer with every wash & wear, that is breathable all year round – making it the perfect summer sheet, or ultimate comfort during the winter months.
Our linen is sustainable
We say no to the trend of fast-fashion and create products that are made to last. We want our products to serve you and your family for generations to come. This is precisely why we focus on quality.
From our raw materials to selection of artisans we strive to create timeless, quality products so you can buy less and better. This means you won’t have to replace your tools every few months or years, which leads to less waste overall.
In order to keep on top of the quality and longevity of our products we work on small batches. It allows the craftsmen we work with to give each product the adequate amount of time and attention it needs. It also allows us to consistently fine tune and adjust products to make each batch better for you. Small batches also means less waste, in terms of both material scraps and unsold products.
We also work with local craftsmen where possible to reduce CO2. For example our knife boxes and wooden products are created locally in Europe instead of Asia to reduce our carbon footprint. Similarly, our craftsmen use locally sourced materials, to reduce our CO2 emissions.
This fabric is known as the world’s strongest natural fibre and is far more durable than other materials – such as cotton. Linen clothes will not lose their shape after washing, so if they are looked after properly, it is highly likely that your linen garments will still be in great condition for years to come.
Some of the advantages of linen include: high absorption and breathable qualities; durability and longevity; eco-friendly and sustainable; temperature-regulating properties; versatility; low-maintenance (no need to iron!); health benefits.
